Just how beneficial is 3d printing and 3d scanning in our education and how does it improve on the standards already in place? This technology has grown in popularity and is now all that anyone is talking about the buzz concerning 3d scanning and printing is quite extraordinary.

3d Printing taking its place in the classroom

Firstly we need to understand what this technology actually does, 3d printing can allow the user to turn any digital file that they have into a real physical object. With 3d printing there is plenty of room for rapid prototyping and reverse engineering. 3d printing uses a process called additive manufacturing which prints layers on top of each other until the object is completed.

3d printing and scanning could have major influences in our educational system. It could help regain pupil focus with the pupils being involved first-hand in the creating and designing process. This technology has the power to change its users into active and lively creators from passive distant spectators.

3d printing can provide the teacher and classroom students with an accurate 3d model of the subject they are studying on any computer. It will also allow students to get up close and personal with the object and see the structure of that object for themselves.

3d printing will allow the teacher more scope and grab the student’s attention to higher levels, levels that would be higher than looking at the picture in books and study guides. This technology has a lot to offer and should be embraced to the highest levels it can possibly manage in education. Classroom interaction will reach new levels, pupil involvement will increase and classroom studies will be something that kids look forward to.

It’s exciting the opportunities that this technology has and how it could improve our kids and next generation’s education levels. It’s time to push out the boat and demand that these services are implemented in our education cycle, improving student criteria and higher levels of passing students.
